We respectfully acknowledge that Ride N Share operates on the ancestral, unceded territory of the Haida Nation, stewards of Haida Gwaii since time immemorial. Ride N Share supports the revival of Skidegate Haida (Xaayda Kil) and Old Massett Haida (Xaad Kil), in addition to English and French. Every menu, button, and notification can be viewed in the language of this land.
Haida is one of the most endangered languages in the world — fewer than 20 fluent first-language speakers remain. By weaving both dialects into an app locals use every day, Ride N Share aims to put Haida words back into daily life: in greetings, in directions, in thank-yous between drivers and riders. Every ride becomes a small act of language revival.
This is not decorative. It is stewardship. The more the app is used in Haida, the more the language lives.
We built the first-pass translations with care, but we are not fluent speakers. We humbly ask Haida citizens — especially elders and language keepers — to help us correct, refine, and grow the translations so they are worthy of the language.
